  1. On her Facebook page, she says the loves of her life include Sir Walter Raleigh and Stalin.

    Raleigh I can understand.

Unless there is a new rap artist named Stalin, I assume she is talking about Joseph Stalin?

  2. Cute girl! Seems sweet and not yet totally jaded. She states her ethnicity is Chinese on her wix.com personal site.

  3. I have to disagree with ….., she certainly seems like model caliber to me. But Stalin, really? Maybe she’s just trying to provoke, but then you’d think she’d pick someone more contemporary.

  4. Maybe she just thinks he looks good? Have you seen the younger picture of him? He looks like “the guy who banged your GF while she was on vacation in Europe”…

  5. @Wushan: Ha ha ha….he was a handsome devil in his youth, wasn’t he? Still, he didn’t play well with others.

Montreal, huh? I wonder if she speaks French 🙂

  6. @ French: I had a photo of him for a history class lesson and my wife said “Oh, he looks nice. Who is he?” I told her that she knows him, she got super excited and then I showed her the photo of Stalin and Mao in their 60’s with military uniforms…. She was crushed.

  7. Ling is delicious! esp pics 2 and 3.

Oh and some of my Chinese students think the sun shines (shone?) out of Mao’s backside. I’ve given up pointing out to them that many people suffered (understatement) during his reign.

  8. @longtack, they probably think the Cultural Revolution was like the 60’s in the U.S. I don’t know for sure if Mao was as deliberately destructive as Stalin, but the end results were the same. Hopefully we don’t see a repeat of that in the 21st century, although Assad and others are trying hard.
